JUNE 2009 UPDATE: There are families on North Haven currently coping with major illness, or evaluations, or special testing, not to mention regimens of chemotherapies,  surgery, and more.  Families, friends, and neighbors always provide much   "caregiving"  and "home services,"  and always will.  NHCares is here also, to offer, if requested,  coordination and support for home visits (non medical), information and  research for resources, and more, with confidentiality for any home and personal services. 

All requests to NHCares, in person, by telephone, or by email, and to any one of us on the Board, are private and confidential, for information, or for any services we may be able to offer guidance about. We ask your permission to discuss any request with the NHCares Board.

The overall goal is to support the health and energy of all family caregivers, along with our profesisonal providers, so all are available when needed. 

And when caregiving extends for weeks, months, or years, sometimes small teams of helpers are needed, as well as different supports.



“Are you helping an older adult, a younger adult, or anyone with special needs, to manage everyday things such as bills, meals, or to arrange medical services?  Do you help with bathing or dressing, household chores, transportation to appointments, or companionship? Are you an older adult or relative, raising someone else’s child? Are you a Provider who is also a caregiver (medical person, clergy, teacher, town outreach worker, or volunteer)? THEN YOU ARE A CAREGIVER.”

Mission Statement:  North Haven Cares values Caregiving, for and by our Community. We provide information, education, support and advocacy for family and paid caregivers.

MEALS FOR NEIGHBORS - Hoping to expand for winter of 2009-2010.

COORDINATION AND SUPPORT FOR HOME SERVICES - Confidential, with family permission.

COMMUNITY EDUCATIONAL EVENTS -Discussions, films, speakers.

SUPPORT FOR TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION IN HOMECARE AND HOME HELP - We invite you to talk to us for certification, or to join a team of "on call and part time" home helpers. Medical and non-medical home workers are independently employed by the family or town (private pay, insurance covered, other arrangements).

GENERAL FAMILY CAREGIVING SUPPORTS - Public suppers, with family permission.
